What to Expect in Yoga Therapy Sessions
Private yoga therapy sessions are designed to support you—your body, your mind, your goals. Whether you're navigating trauma, stress, aging, injury recovery, or burnout from caregiving or clinical work, our work together will honor your individual story and help you find simple, sustainable practices to enhance your health and wellbeing.
Yoga therapy is not one-size-fits-all. It’s a holistic, person-centered approach that considers the full picture of your health—not just symptoms in isolation. For example, persistent back pain may also impact your mood, breathing, sleep, or relationships. That’s why we look at the whole you—body, mind, and lifestyle—to build a meaningful path forward.
Initial Consultation (90 minutes)
Your first session may include:

A comprehensive intake to discuss your history, lifestyle, health challenges, and goals

A gentle physical assessment to observe posture, movement patterns, and muscular imbalances

A breathing assessment to explore how your breath may be influencing physical or emotional stress

Collaborative goal setting to define what you want from your yoga therapy journey

A personalized home practice plan to support your wellbeing between sessions
Your initial home practice may include therapeutic movement, breathwork, mindfulness, or other evidence-informed practices tailored to your needs.
Follow-Up Sessions
Follow-up sessions are typically 60 minutes and provide space to:

Check in on your progress

Adjust or build upon your home practice

Explore new techniques or modify what isn’t working

Deepen your understanding of how your body and nervous system respond over time
Most clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions for 12 weeks. After that, we move to a maintenance schedule based on your preferences and goals.
Home Practice
A key part of yoga therapy is what happens between sessions. You’ll receive home practices designed to fit your life—whether that’s five minutes a day or longer. These practices give you the tools to:

Build strength, flexibility, or stability

Cultivate mindfulness and self-awareness

Feel more at home and confident in your body

Therapist Responsibility
As a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), I’ve received extensive training to work safely and ethically with people experiencing a wide range of mental and physical health conditions. If at any point I feel you would benefit from additional care—whether from a different provider or another yoga therapist—we will discuss that, and I will provide appropriate referrals. Your safety, progress, and wellbeing always come first.
Client Responsibility
Yoga therapy is a collaborative process. Your honesty, feedback, and active participation are essential to the success of our work together. Please keep us informed of any changes to your health and communicate openly about how the practices are working for you—what feels helpful, what feels challenging, and what might need adjustment.
To help us maintain a respectful and effective working relationship, please review the following appointment and cancellation policy:

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) will be charged the full cost of the session.

Late arrivals may result in a shortened session, as appointments cannot be extended beyond the scheduled time.

Exceptions may be made in the case of emergencies, at the therapist’s discretion.

Cancellation fees must be paid prior to booking future sessions.
